A Clinical Study on Antihypertensive Effect of Nicardipine-LA

Abstract
|
|
|
To evaluate the antihypertensive effect of Nicardipine-LA, 16 patients with essential hypertension were treated with oral nicardipine-LA(40-80mg b.i.d) for 8 weeks in Chungnam National University from Dec. 1989 to June 1990.
The results were as follows
1) The systolic blood pressure was significantly decreased (165.9±13.2mmHg VS 137.1± 17.6mmHg, p<0.05) and the diastolic blood pressure was also decreased(111.8±6.6mmHg VS 100.7±9.3mmHg, p<0.05) after 8 weeks therapy of Nicardipine-LA.
2) There was no significant change in pulse rate before and after medication.
3) There were no significant changes in the laboratory findings such as serum creatinine, BUN, GOT, GPT, hemoglobin, leukocyte count, platelet.
4) The side effects were facial flushing in two cases and constipation in one case.
